Cabbage Patch Dolls
Oh My Gosh! I have just had a blast from the past, remember Cabbage Patch Dolls?!?! Well, they are now back on the shelves. It was the early 80’s when cabbage patch dolls became really popular, they were loved then and it seems that they are still loved today.
The dolls that are on sale now […]
Dinky toy sells for £20,000 at auction
A Canadian toy collector hit the jackpot at a London auction when he set the new World Record for a sale of a Dinky Toy. He sold a little green and red truck bearing the name W.E. Boyce (who were a bicycle business in London) for a record $40,000, which is approximately £20,000.
Not bad for […]
Transformers Hard Hero Busts, not a great investment?
Over the past few years, since about 2004, I’ve been collecting the Transformers Hard Hero Busts. They’re a collection of Transformers statues made by the company Hard Hero. They started off with the obvious two characters Optimus Prime and Megatron before moving onto more interesting, and sometimes obscure characters.
Autobots like Grimlock (pictured), Ratchet, Ironhide, Hot […]
Another box of Star Wars figures for eBay
I swear I never had this many Star Wars figures when I was growing up, yet for some reason I’ve just found another massive box of Star Wars figures, all unopened, just sitting in my old bedroom at my parents’ house. They mostly consist of the costume and accessory packs that were released with the […]
Hero Quest and Warhammer
Following on from my post yesterday about Monopoly, I remembered another board game I used to play quite a bit when I was younger; Hero Quest. This was a great game where you’d take the old formula of heroes battling orks and apply it to a more commercial, widespread game.
Yes the real geeks may still […]
Monopoly through the ages
Monopoly is, according the Guinness book of World records, the most played commercial game ever, with a reported 750 Million people having played the game. First patented in 1935 the game has survived over 70 years, court cases over ownership and even helped British POWs escape the Nazis during the second Word war.
The most important […]
Transformers are much harder than they used to be
I made the foolish mistake last night of getting out some of my Binaltech Transformers when my flatmate was in the house.
Schoolboy error.
Naturally he dived on them and insisted on trying to Transform them. Now, back in the good old days of the 1980’s Transformers were easy to Transform. I could change Grimlock from Dinosaur […]
Are model trains valuable?
Watching the One Show last night I saw a report on model trains as collectibles and how collecting trains transcends age. It seems no matter how young or how old someone is, their love of trains isn’t affected by their age. The show featured model trains from the Sixties that were apparently worth thousands of […]
Michael Jackson dolls and other celeb dolls
One of the most profitable of collectible toys comes in the shape of celebrity dolls. Dolls such as Michael Jackson, Spice Girls and the Beatles will all go up in value over time due to the status of the artist at the time. They represent great investments, so long as you time it right and […]
Original Star Wars figures
I’ve blogged about the collectible nature of original Star Wars figures before and how the famed last 17 were the most valuable of the original releases. This weekend while clearing out my old house I found a huge box of Star Wars figures and costume packs from the prequels, all sealed on their cards. There […]
